The nostalgia is real:
I remember watching the Advent Children movie back in around 2007 and being overawed by how realistic everything looked. Then I played the actual game and was disappointed to see low poly-count block people and pixelated environments instead of that beautiful CGI. Although I did enjoy Active Time Battle system which struck a nice balance between turn-based and realtime gameplay.
FF7's fan following has remained strong despite nearly 2 decades passing and countless sequels and spinoffs coming out, and and after all this time Squeenix has decided to reward us with this remake, the best of both worlds!
[I don't have a PS4 but I am confident it'll come out on other platforms in due time.]

I find it hilarious that people are getting angry that this game isn't a straight remake of the originals when SE has said for years that if they were going to remake it they would change it.

I think it's better on all accounts, well maybe not certain scenes being pruned. Then there's the meta stuff like splitting it into three parts.

As someone who always thought the story of ff7 was it's weakest part, I welcome the changes, especially if they retcon all the bad bad content they made after the main game like Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus.

Advent Children takes place after the main game though, can't really retcon that. And what was so bad about it?
