That's how my DM did it, He probably expected me to seek out redemption or find someone who could cast an atonement spell, but I just moved on and became a regular mercenary.
Anyway now that I'm not at work I can post more. Here's one I just remembered.
Mutants & Masterminds:
Speedy, a Flash rip off, character died (maybe, I don't really know, he just disappeared) trying to get rid of what the DM called a quantum bomb that would destroy the world, our superman was down so I tried to run fast enough to get enough speed to throw the bomb off the Himalayas, I crit failed my roll, our DM has a fate point system so I was able to burn a fate to reroll, I got a nat 20. My GM interpreted this as me going so fast I fully immersed myself in his version of the speed force. He appeared briefly several other times as a Deus Ex Machina and helped saved the day, but was gone after a couple of combat rounds. I had other characters, but he is the only one I remember.
