The others take their leave while Finch remains on deck. After a while a man yells out from off the side of the Espiegel:

Unknown man-[Imperial]: "Thy Captain reside? I be'est Solor Lonfrodder, captain of the Untamed Red that sleepeth beside thee."

The skydock stands outside the city walls. Orkan flies ahead with simple ease while the rest navigate the patches of dust and pale grasses in the dark. The two women posted at the gate are armed with glaives and clad in chain coats, composite breastplates and composite greaves. Their armor has the polish of steel but the faux golden coloring of bronze. They only give each of the crew a cursory look and do bar their entry.

The gate opens up to a main street about fifteen feet wide. The street snakes its way between the buildings and up along the tamest slopes of the hill. From a glance there between forty and fifty buildings each one and half to three floors high (a half floor consists of an attic or cieling space). The structures are mostly made of plastered walls and topped with pale white fibers reminescent of thatch.

Small pyres light the main street every hundred feet or so all the way to the castle. The alleyways and side streets are steeped in the shadow of late evening, despite it being midday. The only building of note before the castle is a two floor building in the square ahead. It stands apart with exposed black curtains and a tower rising another twelve feet out the back. For those who have spent more than a day in Broadland they know the building to be a temple of the secret gods. Only the priests of the faith are allowed to enter such temples.

The majority of the crew do not care to pause and study the city. They crack jokes and skip to the square where they turn right and find the local tavern.

Andrea and her entourage continue up the path. As they observe their new environment they see sprigs of herbs spread at the base of most doors and catch the soft hints of a thick musky incense being emanating from many of the homes they pass. The commonfolk on the street give hearty greetings to the trio but not much more. From halfway up the ascent they look back down at the town square and everything around. It is a beautiful sight; It is as a sea of candles in the encroaching shadows. The dim orange reflected of the sun contrasts against the black landscape. Above, the empire.

Orkan inquires about acquiring a prosthetic from the first peasant he comes across. They inform him if anyone could manage such a task it would be the priest Ghora or forgemaster Enghyn near the castle proper. Figuring the forgemaster more accessible Orkan makes his way to the top on foot (with only fifteen feet of street and peasants all about he cannot make a clean landing from the skies). After bothering a few more streetgoers he finds the forge. The location is squat and partly dug into the ground. As Orkan steps down into the forge the heat of molten metal hits him hard. He powers through and calls for Enghyn. He sits with the forgemaster for several minutes describing his request and showing what he has to offer in return. The forgemaster regretfully informs him he would need at least three wealth to craft a sterling hand that does not weigh heavy like a lead sculpture.
