Personally I voted MC. Imo a dedicated server is a great community hub and with appropriate mods MC servers can offer a broad range of activities for members. Terraria would be my second. My biggest hesitation with Terraria is that the core appeal is server progression (reaching the final boss based on whatever content mod you have installed) and that people could miss sudden steps (e.g. the switch from regular to hardmode after killing wall of flesh).
I do love me some alien swarm, like when we played it years ago, but I also know its the kind of thing we blow through in a week or two. Once players get the methods down all but the highest difficulties become trivial.
