I don't know what kills my childhood more, this or the new lion king.

Yeah Lion King seems doomed to fail from the start. It's supposed to be part of their "live action" reboot sequence but.... since they're using CGI for the talking animals and that's literally the entire cast, this is actually another animated film, just in a "realistic" style of CGI.

I think if they really cared about making a truly live action reboot and weren't merely continuing to milk Disney nostalgia money, they could have gone the extra mile and done something like Henson-style Muppets plus practical effects. Sure, it would have alienated a large part of the target audience, but it's doing that now anyway. At least if they went with muppets, I wouldn't be included in that part.

It wouldn't be so bad if they had the animals move around more cartoon like, but they move like actual animals so it looks really bad.
