They're really going all out with all that nostalgia bait from the Sam Raimi trilogy. Although honestly it seems the whole premise of this movie could have been avoided quite easily...

As somewhat of a comic fan making the third movie based on the most hated arc in comics ever ,One More Day where Peter makes a deal with the Mephisto so everyone forgets he revealed his secret identity during the first Civil War & save Aunt May at the cost of his marriage & future daughter with MJ, to be a stupid move that can easily backfire on them with how hated that arc is even to this day. Also don't like that the whole multiverse plot won't make much since unless you watch the terrible Loki show.

hm I haven't read that arc but it doesn't seem that similar, he's not even married at this point.
And I guess we have to talk about Loki now, why didn't you like it? I thought it was pretty good.
No it's what marvel does for each movie recently: take an arc from the comics, cut it up so it fits the MCU, like Civil War for example changing the main theme from after a massive screw up by a super hero team that wiped out a school, forcing all super heroes to register themselves in a database as living weapons, giving up their secret identities and for all intents and purposes making them agents of the government, and that led to a schism that ended with the assassination of Captain America by Sharon Carter after he turned himself in, leading to Bucky becoming cap for a while.
This new movie is doing the same as OMD but instead of Mephisto it's Dr. Strange, though for all we know that might not be the real Strange, and instead of undoing him revealing it in civil war it's undoing Mysterio revealing it. I am excited to see Green Goblin & Doc Ock again, but I'm really hoping they handle this right and not screw up Ock redeeming himself at the end of S2. As to Loki, I really hated that Loki was basically second fiddle in his own show to make way for a new character. Possible spoiler for future marvel stuff |
