KaedeKingdom Come: Deliverance

Well this game has finally released, and for the inaugural outing from a new studio it's a great first game. Sure there are bugs, like how you cant walk through heavy bushes (intentional) but can stand on top of them if they next to a rock, some performance issues (I decided to start a new playthough and after spending an hour picking flowers in the starting town, the game crashed when I tried to skip a cut scene) and it has a mixed bag of mechanics, I love the idea of not being able to save whenever you want and to save manually you have to either buy or make a certain brew and hate the lock picking, archery for some reason removes the targeting reticule when you go to shoot.

I for one though am looking forward to what this studio delivers in the future, and this game was a good start. Possibly might even have a CD projekt red situation on our hands and can go on to do great things for RPG games.

Not sure I like the idea of having to craft your own save points, doesn't it kind of hurt the immersion by being too meta?

Not really, materials for it are common and can be found in fields everywhere and you can even make it even if you don't know how to read (an actual thing in the game) there is a drawback to even taking the saviors schnapps, it's alcohol and can get you drunk which can lead to all the wonderful things that come with it, like blacking out and waking up somewhere else, hangover and all. Though i did forget to mention there are auto saves at the start and end of quests, and if you sleep in a bed you own.

There is a QOL patch coming in a few weeks which improves lockpicking, pick pocketing, and might add a save and quit function.

:OOOO I'm so hype for this game! I remember loving the concept back when it was first announced. I'll probably wait a few weeks for the bugs to get patched though.

How far have you gotten @Kaede ?

Well I have passed the 6 hour introduction, and have been made a squire, insulted a prince, barely beat him in a in an archery contest to take his bow, beat the shit out of said prince who decided to have a sword fight without wearing armour vs me who is openly wearing armour. And then saved to play Yakuza Zero, got this game on a PS4 so my experience may be abit different than on a pc, but should be about the same.

The low-fantasy setting seemed pretty boss. Also part of the reason I liked Mount and Blade.

Mount and blade would be an good comparison, no magic, no other races besides human, the only real magical thing that they are adding is a potion that let's you respec your character. Also wait for the qol patch to come out if you wanna play it.

Patch 1.4 has arrived, and it seems there's still bugs galore!

There is going to be bugs for a while, one of the main things this game did wrong is deciding to release early at the demand of the backers. An analogy Matt used for this game 'the game was taken out of the oven too early, instead of a nice golden brown it is slightly undercooked and just a bit doughy in the center.

On the plus side though, I haven't encountered any bugs in the game and only had the one crash on my ps4. Though I am placing the game on hold while I play through the Yakuza series and Far Cry 5.

It was an ambitious project and still mostly delivered. On the whole a satisfying game.

Have to agree with that sentiment, can't wait to see what this studio will deliver next.
