  Privacy Debate
Posted by: Corenat Rovarnus - 05-17-2018, 10:50 PM - Forum: Miscellaneous Non-spam - Replies (11)

So because you two don't seem to have any other common channel of communication, I'm going to try and forge one here.

The stances:

@"vroop" refuses to use Discord as it doesn't have encryption and the privacy policy does not exclude the possibility of 3rd party data use.

@Interovegas is incumbent to Discord, and hasn't had any (direct) explanation as to why he ought to switch to Riot, or some other security-focused communication app.

Apologies in advance to both you for not offering any arguments of my own, as I'm just a conformist sheep.

The goal here is to find a voice chat app that we can all use, or at least reach some understanding on the privacy issue. Discussion commence!

  Next Community Game
Posted by: Corenat Rovarnus - 05-09-2018, 01:59 PM - Forum: Announcements - Replies (37)

It's come to my attention that we haven't been doing anything as a community lately, and in my experience when a community doesn't do things together for a while they tend to cease to be a 'community'. Now, we're not Moon Records/Rule Breaker level of dead yet but this little weeb haven has certainly seen better days.

With that in mind, let's consciously choose our next big video game fad to get us all back into the metaphorical gigasaddle together. For the first time in, well, it's not the first time, the Administration is open to any suggestions, although we've developed some general principles to use as guidelines:

  • Flexible player count - to accommodate for when not everyone can be there. Alternatively the average 'match' time can be very short so that if there are excess players they can switch out/alternate.
  • Economic Accessibility - Should either be free, have a "free demo" Wink , or most of us already own it.
  • Optimized Performance - Runs smoothly, or at all on a low-end PC.

You don't actually have to keep these in mind all the time, just shout out some names and I'll probably research it myself.

  Steins;Gate 0
Posted by: SilkScarf - 05-03-2018, 06:31 PM - Forum: Anime/Manga/Visual Novels - Replies (1)

The sequel to Steins;Gate, the anime adaptation of the science fiction visual novel, which @The Lord Kelvin wrecced to many on our forum.

I enjoyed the first series, despite it having a ton of plot holes, and I think this season had a strong hook.

Steins;Gate 0 seems to be off to a good start, and hopefully it ends strong.

I wanted to get the word out about this tool I made for TES games (and fallout). It lets you generate new voice lines using voices from the actual games. Nexus links below this showcase/trailer:

Legitimate Acquisition --> https://www.wesnoth.org/
The Battle For Wesnoth is a free open source turn based strategy game utilizing a hex grid. There are six different playable factions in the default era, with many more units and scenarios available on the official add-on server.
It's currently on version 1.12 with a new and improved world map, graphics and interface with 1.14 soon to be published on Steam.

I've been playing this again recently with @Interovegas and @Xenoe so thought I'd make a new topic here. The replay value is pretty high, even with my previous experience the campaigns and multiplayer still provide an ample challenge.

In particular there seems to be precious little material on the Drake faction, so I must be one of the foremost authorities in the world on playing them by now.

  Enhanced Steam
Posted by: Kaede - 04-14-2018, 02:31 AM - Forum: Gaming General - Replies (1)

http://www.enhancedsteam.com/

Don't know if this was ever posted here so figured I would do it. Just a basic plugin for a variety of browsers that does things like where to get games the cheapest on various websites as well as the price history of the game, performance survey results, how long it takes to beat the game, warns you upfront if the game uses a third party DRM, and best shows you exactly how much you have spent on your steam account. Only downside is that it is only for the browser and not the steam client, but it is still a good plugin to have.

I'm just glad I share my account with four people, because if I spent as much as I did by myself, I'd be pissed. But over the course of 7 years I thought it would be more.

Store Purchases: $4,088.74 (Don't know if it covers non-steam purchases)
Gift Purchases: $223.52 (this is most likely all me, I'm not even mad about it)
In-Game Purchases: $1,811.43 (most of this is probably from when Matt was subscribed to ESO & Dave trying a few f2p mmos)
Market Transactions: $44.01
Total: $6,167.70
