"I counted six husks, Jamar." "Point it at...ah, I see," Samad quickly figures out how to keep Tomoe centered in the video frame. "Are you sure that's a wise decision..." Tomoe nicks her hand, a bead of blood emerges. She approaches the statue uninhibited, being no stranger to pain and blood in her line of work. As her palm becomes flush against the pedestal's side, the outline lights up with blue light and Tomoe finds herself unable to move. A blue circle forms around her feet with arcane patterns inscribed within it. Small orbs of light rise up from it, spin around Tomoe, and all diffuse into her body simultaneously in a brilliant flash. She feels a strange 'presence' enter her mind...

As everyone's vision recovers, the patterns of light fade away, and the presence fades to a lingering sensation in the back of her head. Tomoe regains motor function, feeling somewhat invigorated by the experience. Suddenly, large cracks appear in the statue, and it crumbles into a pile of pebbles that slowly drop off the pedestal.

Tomoe finds out the video recording was still going underneath the Status app. She stops and submits the video, and gets a push notification for reaching 1% of the quota. The Status app has very little in the way of lore or background explanation, but there is sufficient documentation on what mechanical advantages she has gained.

[There are guides on how to acclimatize the body to having enhanced physical parameters, although in this case Tomoe doesn't feel that much stronger that they would be of use.]
"Skills" and other abilities can usually be invoked merely by willing it, though some may require a verbal incantation or special circumstances.
True Name Discernment: Represents a sovereign's ability to take the measure of their subjects. At rank D it can only discern a target's name and class but in exchange has an almost negligible mana cost.
Cory makes a gash on his hand, somewhat larger than Tomoe's since he's using an axe. He too is locked in place and then infused with orbs of blue light.

Tomoe goes to each statue and takes several pictures of them to help Samad for his research, and brings up the video she took to crop out a clear picture of the lancer and ruler statues.
Afterwards she goes through the status app to see if there is any mention on how to cast magic now that there is a stat for it, or if her class comes with any new equipment

"You become a JRPG character if you touch a statue... Hmm, wonder if you can double class like that one show." Nicking her other hand with the spear she goes over to chained man statue and places her other hand in the indentation to see if anything happens.

On the desk Jamar finds the remnants of what were probably writing implements, as well as some thin stone tablets with lots of strange text that he recognizes to be the Dakavid script. One tablet notably contains a map. Cory has already indexed the inscriptions on each pedestal. On the walls are murals of soldiers performing various military activities. In particular there are some touching the statues and consequently being surrounded by an aura. They also seem to get an aura from touching an object that looks like a cylindrical dowel with a diamond shape in the middle. Tomoe harms herself again and makes contact with with chained man's pedestal. Rather than being frozen in place, Tomoe only feels stiff and uneasy as another presence attempts to enter her mind but is rebuffed by the one already there. She gets a push notification on her phone:

"Hey guys, what's going on?" Seeing the blood on Tomoe and Cory's hands, his eyes widen. "Seems like you two are having fun."

Jamar finds that the tablets comprise a manual of sorts to instruct a commanding officer on the upkeep of this facility.
There are provisions on wall maintenance, patrol schedules, and some sort of communication system which Samad's notes prove insufficient to decipher.
Of particular interest is a section on troop management: After completing basic training and 100 [unknown units of time] of service, a soldier may go through a series of trials to determine their eligibility for promotion to an "elite" rank. The commander is advised to exercise great discretion in approving a promotion and the selection of the soldier's new role, (as well as restraint with explosives, for some reason) as each transformation process comes at great cost. Ensure that newly promoted "elites" follow a strict training regimen to reduce the risk of overexertion-related casualties. Recommended distribution is seven men out of every ten assigned to the three direct combat "knight" roles with the four "subversive" roles selected as needed. The remaining positions may not be granted without direct orders from [untranslatable, presumably a general or higher authority].

As Tomoe taps her phone, the second presence disappears. She does not find any information in the Status app about multiclassing [though it does not rule out the possibility as the app is quite lacking in information] To Jose Samad says: "I'm still not sure what's going on, but Tomoe and Jaysson both touched one of those statues and caused some sorcery to occur and the statue to crumble. Something happened to them, it doesn't seem harmful but they aren't being very forthcoming about it." Samad's eyes light up at hearing Cory. "Inscriptions? Ooh, let me see!" He rushes over and comes up with an approximate translation for each statue's inscription in short order:
- An armored figure wielding a sword pointing upwards, the tip broken off: "Sword...Ur?"
- A skirted woman with arms outstretched. It seems like there used to be something in her hands: "Shoot-Ur."
- [Collapsed]A man wearing a feathered cap holding a long pole: "Spear-Ur. Hmm, I'm seeing a theme here."
- A bearded man in heavy robes with a long staff held vertically out to the side: "Spell-Ur."
- A shirtless masked man leaning backwards, holding large blades in a reverse grip: "Kill-Ur."
- A hunched over humanoid with a wolf's head, wielding a massive cleaver: "Rage-Ur"
- Another armored figure standing atop some wheeled contraption. "Rider. No, that can't be it, can it?"
- A kneeling figure wrapped in chains, their head obscured by a long mane of hair. "Revenge-Ur."
- [Collapsed]A woman seemingly suspended above the ground, lifting a scale in one hand. "Ruuuru-Ur."
- Empty pedestals: "Pawn."

Jamar pricks both hands and moves over to simultaneously touch the statues of sword...ur and spell...ur (sword-ur and whatever statue is closest if it's impossible to reach both sword...ur and spell...ur).

Rolling 2d6: 6 + 6 = 12 Rolling 1d2: 2 With bloody hands Jamar touches both Sword-Ur and Rider. Instantly an immense pressure bears down on Jamar's mind as two presences enter it. A blurry magic circle forms underneath Jamar and the familiar orbs of light rise. However, after the same amount of time that Cory and Tomoe spent under, Jamar instead remains paralyzed, the orbs continuing to spin about at a rapid pace instead of infusing. Jamar's body starts shaking as internally the two presences repeatedly slam into each other with great force. [Jamar can talk, but not move otherwise.]

Jamar's eyes dart back and forth in a dizzying attempt to follow the orbs while Jamar's mouth quibbles, confused as to what sort of expression would be appropriate. Upon hearing the questions from the others Jamar responds in an unstable and cracking voice.

Tomoe takes hold of Jamar's slender arms, taking care not to touch the circle or the spinning orbs. As the next shaking period ends and Jamar's body stills once more Tomoe quickly yanks both arms off the pedestals simultaneously. The timing seems to have worked as the signs of magic vanish and Jamar feels both presences leave with them. A small crack appears in each statue.

Jamar falls backwards onto the ground after having been released. After laying for a moment, Jamar facepalms and heaves a sigh, wobbling a bit while standing up.
Jamar removes the facepalmed hand to shoot a finger gun at Tomoe while leaning over using the other hand in an attempt to look cool.
"Thanks, Tomoe"
Conveniently the hand acting as a crutch for the lean lands on the sword...ur statue's activation plaque.

A little blood gets smeared on Jamar's forehead from the facepalm. The convenient touching of the Sword-Ur pedestal causes it to activate again, and this time it goes just like the others did.

When the lightshow begins after touching the statue, Jamar lets out a little yelp.
After the process completes, Jamar slowly makes it over to a corner in the room and sits down, back against the wall.
Facing the others, Jamar reveals a blank stare.
"I'm... I'm just gonna... index this translation journal now..."
Jamar picks up indexing the translation journal where previously left off.

Jamar clumsily makes it over to the corner a little faster than expected, and almost tears a couple pages in the journal upon opening it, hands exerting a much greater force than expected.
Tomoe touches the Rider statue and indeed, is greeted by the same prompt as before.

As Cory swapped out his spear for the axe, he has to go back down to the arsenal to retrieve it, stepping through the corpse pile. Once it's in his hand though it feels unusually familiar, techniques streaming into his mind unbidden. He returns upstairs and does a pole vault, a technique which isn't quite covered by his proficiency but apparently still capable of. Rolling 1d10: 8 Rolling 1d6: 1 Rolling 1d9: 6

Cory soars through the air, getting uncomfortably close to the ceiling and passing through the space that the statue he "absorbed" once occupied. Despite this he lands safely, feeling there is some risk inherent to pole vaulting with a spear. Choosing to operate in the imprecise, unpredictable arena of the mind, Tomoe ignores the phone prompt and prods the new presence to "merge" with the current. It takes this as an invitation to enter, and slams against the incumbent. Tomoe becomes rooted to the pedestal like Jamar was, shaking at each collision. She perceives that rather than two solid walls running into each other, the boundaries between the energies are fuzzy and wavering. Perhaps with enough "prodding" they could be made to dissolve... [Tomoe can talk but not move] Jose now takes his turn, making blood pact with the "Kill-Ur" statue and being infused with magical power.
