OOC: Can't see the posts.

Edit: Can see them now for some reason.

Tomoe places her arms infront of her face and chest to block the worst of the damage.
Reply
Thinking that rocks are still falling Tomoe puts her arms up, and a few more pebbles hit them instead of her face or chest. Where the wall stood is now a tall pile of rubble.
Reply
Seeing that there is no more danger ,and wanting a childish moment, Tomoe shouts. "Told you so!" She looks at the rubble to see if it can be climbed to where Jamar was.
Reply
"uwaa, I'm sorry. Just get out of there"
Reply
Tomoe sees that there is a way to climb up, though it looks treacherous and unstable.
Reply
She looks around to see if there is any tables or long pieces of wood around that can be used to make a ramp.
Reply
Tomoe sees that one of sleeping cots wasn't smashed to pieces by the rockfall, and another was only broken in half. There is also the desk but that's still up atop the platform on the other side of the pit.
Reply
Looking towards the two hiding beneath the slab, she shouts. "You two think you can climb this?"
Reply
"Climb what? Uhh, hold on..." Samad's voice is muffled, and rocks shift as he attempts to free himself.

It doesn't work, but the shifting of the rocks keys Tomoe in to his exact location.
Reply
Tomoe heads over to where they are and tries to help remove the slab of rock.
Reply
"Samad, did you bring a crowbar or some sort of leverage tool in the caravan? I'll go grab it if so."
Reply
Cory imagines to himself that the slab of rock in front of himself is conceptually a spear, and attempts to free himself.
Reply
"Is that...Jamar? Did you say something?" It seems like hearing is difficult through multiple layers of stone. Fortunately Tomoe is quickly rectifying that situation, tossing aside an unusually large slab aside with greater ease than expected. Samad gratefully accepts her help in extracting himself from the rubble. "Haaah, it's a good thing I'm not claustrophobic. Thank you Tomoe."

Cory has quite an active imagination, but the slab isn't close enough in shape to bring out his proficiency. Still, he is able to utilize BRUTE STRENGTH to push all the rocks off him.
Reply
Cory looks to see if the way outside is now open.
Reply
Cory sees that while collapsed, the wall just got 10 feet higher is still a formidable obstacle.
Reply
"No problem Samad, now to get out of here..." Tomoe looks around to see if there is another way out, a secret passage the group may have missed.
Reply
Cory sees if he can climb over the wall mound now.
Reply
Jamar unties the rope , carries it close to the wall, and tosses one end over while holding on to the other end, holding one foot up to the mound to brace for the ttug of the rope.
"Yo, climb this. I'll hold onto it on this side... ah jeez, I hope I'm strong enough for this"
Reply
Cory takes his handrope!
Reply
Jamar coils up one end of the rope and tosses it through the opening between the ceiling and the pile.

Reply
Samad, Tomoe and Cory see the rope unfurl on their side, although it snags on a protruding rock, hanging about 4 feet above their heads.
Reply
Tomoe walks over to under the rope a prepares to boost someone up to the rope.
Reply
Tomoe proceeds under the rope, then bends over slightly while threading her hands together near her knees. Jason correctly infers her unspoken intent to boost someone up. He steps up onto her hands and she manages to him up high enough to grasp the end of the rope. He pulls it free from the snag and starts climbing, bracing his feet against the rubble to take the weight off of Tomoe.

Jamar feels the tug as the rope is drawn taut under tension. A few rocks come loose as Jason's feet apply pressure, causing a brief scrabbling to find a new foothold, but he manages to make it to the top of the rubble pile. He is now faced with the task of getting down, as the stairwell is no longer accessible from this point.

Cory ties a section of the rope around his spear and secures it at the top of the rubble pile, and then climbs down the other side.

>> FORCED FAST FORWARD >>

Cory, Tomoe and Samad all make it over the rubble pile safely, retrieving the spear and rope. The group heads outside to avoid the effects of any further collapse.
"Whew, that was harrowing," Samad remarks. "What now?"
[Anyone can act.]
Reply
"Well did you have anywhere else to go Samad?"
Reply
Jamar moves far away from the entrance before dropping down into a seiza-style position and staring absently at the crumbling structure.
Reply
"Well...this wasn't the Cave of Plunders, so our quest continues, unless you're having second thoughts. I wouldn't blame you if you do, considering what just happened back there."
Samad scratches his chin. "Hm, which direction though..."
Reply
"I remember there was another set of suspicious buildings somewhere around here."
Reply
"Really? This fort only seems to have the one, unless you count the stables. Which direction would you say it's in, from here?"
Reply
Standing in place, Jamar looks around 360 degrees for any points of interest in the surrounding area.

"Could you please tell us more about the rumors and/or legends surrounding the Cave of Plunders, Samad?"
Reply
To the west, Jamar spies the location they spawned in, with cacti scattered about.
Jamar sees a sandy road stretching out to the south from the fort's entranceway.
To the east, the desert appears to become less sandy.

[Samad has spoken about the Cave of Plunders before]
"Of course, Jamar, I'll tell you more of what I know. Hmm, where to begin," Samad brushes his beard.

"Now back in the city, most think that the Cave of Plunders is just a hoard of miscellaneous goods that a gang of bandits had accumulated over the years. Despite knowing of its location, the Redwan natives of this region do not dare go near it, even under pain of death, as they believe it to have a terrible curse. According to their lore, those few who return from its clutches alive bring despair and misfortune wherever they go. Because of this superstition they have refused to provide me with a guide, and I did not wish to deceive them about my intentions.
Of course, I am a man of reason, versed in the philosophies of the Occident, so I do not put much stock in these unsubstantiated tales. My personal theory is that the Cave was a vault constructed by Dakavid nobility to safeguard their greatest possessions."
Reply
Jamar shudders at the thought of despair and misfortune as mentioned by Samad.
"So you don't put stock in these tales although you acknowledge that the downfall of the fallen empire was probably due to forbidden magicks. I have a feeling that those shamblers we found earlier may just be the beginning of our despair and misfortune."
Reply
"I dunno, we killed them pretty easily and we got some new abilities, doesn't seem all that bad to me."

Tomoe consults her pone about unlocking new abilities for her class.
Reply
Jamar's eyes widen at the mention of new abilities.
"I suppose now that things have calmed down, I should take a look at those sweet, sweet jrpg skills and if there's anything new."

Jamar tries to apathetically pull up the status screen via phone; but instead Jamar hastily retrieves the phone, which ends up slipping and fumbling in Jamar's hands.
Given the Shamefurr Dispraaeeee, Jamar ends up unwittingly in a hunched back, tight elbow, phone-reading position while pulling up the status screen.
Reply
"I don't put stock in them precisely because they are rumors and legends, without evidence or experience to back them up. As for the exact cause of the Dakavids' fall, that is what I am currently trying to ascertain. Still, you may have a point; I did not expect to encounter something like those shambling monsters. We can head back to town if you don't think you can handle the dangers we might find in the Cave."

Tomoe finds that new skills may be unlocked by fulfilling the class "archetype", typically behavior in alignment with it's role or purpose. Existing skills can be raised through regular usage or pertinent training.

Jamar's status remains unchanged from the last time they were checked.

"ah sweet, I'm swole."
Jamar rolls up a sleeve and flexes, observing the arm muscles closely.
Reply
Contrary to their previously scrawny state, Jamar's arm muscles are now large enough to be visible through the skin, which has taken on a healthier, almost glowing sheen.

Jose licks his hand.

Seeing her new skill, Tomoe gets an idea. "Hey Samad, the way you were talking earlier implied you know someone who knows how to get to the vault correct?"
Reply
"Well yes, the Redwan could probably get there easily as they know this desert better than anyone else. But as I've said before, they refuse to do so out of fear. My contact back in Dadgrabah was able to narrow its location down somewhat by analyzing their trade routes."

Samad brushes up against his camel, and turns to regard it with newfound curiosity. "Hm..."
Reply
"The Redwan are afraid of bringing outsiders to the cave but they know of the location; what's the reason for this? Do you think they're hoarding the plunders for themselves? If so, they must visit the cave often. The sand to the east appears to be thinner; maybe it's frequented despite having no obvious roads."
Reply
Samad shakes his head. "I don't think the Redwan would do such a thing, they are a deeply superstitious people and most would not dare break a century-old tradition."
He touches the camel on the nose, gaining a favorable reaction from the beast.
"You make a good point about the eastern sands, though it could just be regular caravan traffic that's causing the thinning. Shall we head eastwards and find out?"
Reply
"Maybe there's a splinter group of Redwan that do that. Anyways, I'm in agreement for heading east. What's everyone else think?"
Reply
Samad nods. "Yes, are the rest of you up to continuing this journey?"
"I'm fine with whatever you guys end up doing," Vincent offers helpfully.

Samad lays hands on the camel's head and begins stroking it softly, caressing its neck with an uncharacteristically skilled touch.

"Eastward sounds good to me, if we find nothing we can head back and try my idea."
